‘In Good Morning! Good Morning! Good Morning!, portraits are conceived in anonymity rather than determined by a direct interaction with the subject. To replace the model’s physical presence within the studio, Mandel photographs unsuspecting persons and reshapes their printed, cropped images by hand before shooting them again against a black background.’
