Paläon
The ‘Paläon’ is a camouflage, a hyper-realistic abstraction of the
landscape. The reflective facade of the Paläon reverberates the
surrounding meadows and forests as well as the movements of the clouds
in the sky. Through its pictorial form the research and experience
center becomes one with its surrounding environment. Due to large-sized, sharp cuts in the facade, the Nils Holzer Kobler
architects realized sprawling stunning views from the pit lignite mine
to the nearby forest landscape and the grazing Przewalski’s horses.
Designed by Holzer Kobler Architects the building is a ‘landmark’ in the
rolling landscape that is reflected in the facade. Through the
expressive architecture of the building it mediates between artificial
and natural landscape.
